Sophia

Well it is hard to believe that it is already the second day since we had her. She is doing amazingly well. They were concerned with her breathing yesterday and ended up doing a chest x-ray and blood work but all of htat came back normal. She is starting to eat which I am so thankful for. It took Sammy like four or five days to figure out how to suck when he was in the NICU. Sophia was only 4 days later in utero than him, but more than a pound bigger and has already figured out how to eat.:) Here are some pictures from yesterday and today, the aunties, uncles and cousins. There is also a picture of Daddy snuggling with his girl. I just love seeing him with her, it is so different with a girl. I know it will only get better. She weighed 5lb 1oz today and is eating like a champion:)

Sophia Grace Weber!!!!

She is here and she is healthy!!! Here is the story of her birth: Saturday in the middle of the night I woke up with a severe headache and nausea/diarrhea. I knew that this wasn't a good sign, and called mom first thing in the morning to come check my BP. It was elevated, so Matt brought me up here while Mom took Sam to church. Once I got here they did blood work and put me on the monitor to find I was contracting every 2-3minutes. The doctor who was on call wanted to send me right to UMass, but thankfully she decided she would wait until monday morning if I remained semi stable.

Monday my doctor (the best in the world) came back from her trip away and conferred with the OBs here as well as pediatrician and UMass. Everyone was on board with me staying here as long as the baby continued to look well on the monitor. My liver function tests continued to elevated over the course of monday into tuesday and they decided that yesterday was the day! WE had everyone praying that Sophia would flip because she was breech, and God as always flipped her around, only noone knew:) We thank all of you for your continued prayers. The crazy thing is that Sophia was breech, even up until about 12pm yesterday, but sometime she flipped. So she wasn't breech after all. The doctors are still glad they did a section as they don't think I could have handle a long labor without my liver tests going through the roof and me getting very sick.

So officially: Sophia Grace Weber was born on March 18, 2008 at 4:18 in the afternoon, and was 18inches long and 5lb8oz! The same length as Sammy but more than a pound bigger!! Here are some pictures from yesterday and I will continue to post as often as I can.

On a side note yesterday my dad also had a heartattack:( He is doing well, although he has a 100% blockage in one of the arteries on the back side of his heart. THey did a cardiac catheritization and stent placement yesterday afternoon at St. Elizabeth's in Boston, so please continue to keep him in your prayers, as well as Sophia and I.

All kinds of stuff

What a busy week we have had. We have been busy (not really me physically). Well we went up to see Matt's brother and his wife and kids on thursday. It was so nice the pictures are from then. Sammy just loves playing with his cousins, although was quite jealous when I even acknowledged my little niece Ava. We shall see how he adjusts when Sophia gets here. We also went to Matt's parents for dinner this week too. Sammy also decided that Daddy's ties were fair game and wore several of them at once.

I had a doctors appointment yesterday and the doctor said that she didn't think I would make it until next friday and that we would induce next week. So we were anxious and excited. My blood work had gotten a bit worse between last friday and tuesday when I saw her, so she had already talked to the OBs and we were working on a plan to induce next week. They repeated labs yesterday and although they were worse, they are going to try to wait until 36wks to induce me, which means it will be Good Friday! She may be here for Easter. I am a little more uncomfortable each day and wake up with a swollen face and hands. My BP was up yesterday too. I guess we will see what God has in store for this coming week.

?????

Anybody out there know how to get a breech baby to turn? Her head is so far up into my ribs and so uncomfortable, not to mention where her feet are:) Sam had a follow up appointment with the immunologist today. He is happy with how he is doing, and happy to hear he has gained a pound since january: my little porkchop is 26pounds, of course this is fully clothed but still:) He said we don't need to see him again until the summer. He feels that the gammaglobulin transfusionss are doing phenominally. I of course know that it is God keeping him strong and healthy through the transfusions:)
I am feeling a little better and a little worse. I have started having the liver pain again, the dull pains almost constantly and occasionally the sharp pains. I woke up both yesterday and today with a lot of swelling in my face and hands. I saw the doctor yesterday, my liver tests are slightly more elevated, but my BP was okay. She said I am either getting sick like the flu, or my body is just about done with this whole thing. So please continue to keep us in your prayers. I just want to make it another week. It would be weird to have the baby on Good Friday or Easter but that is my goal to make it to then, because then I will be 36wks. My ultrasound that I had on monday put me eight days behind, and last week my ultrasound put me 3 days behind, so apparently her growth is starting to slow down. But she is still bigger than Sammy was.

God is good

We have had a rough weekend on this end, but I am so thankful that God is in control of all situations and issues. I went to church this morning feeling so down and frustrated, and God spoke through so many to me and encouraged me in the place where I needed it most. Sammy is so cute, and so lovable and just trying to understand all that is going on. He just comes to hug and comfort with such understanding and no judgement. I am feeling physically gross today and my blood pressure is up. But emotionally I know that "This to shall pass" and I am thankful that knowledge. Tomorrow is the biophysicl profile and non-stress test for Sophia. I am not sure why it is being done at this juncture in time, except that the doctor is seeing something that I am not. Please just pray taht she is okay in there and we can keep this up for a little longer.

Big boy haircut and other exciting news!

What a great day! We went and saw Uncle Dennis, then got our haircut and then I had a doctor's appointment. All was well. Dennis got in last night and Sammy kept saying his name the whole way over and started playing with him right away. Then we got his hair cut and he was so good. He just sat there and acted like he couldn't care less. He looks so grown up with his hair now:)

I had a doctors appointment today. The doctor is still pretty concerned which is understandable, but I am just getting more and more relieved with each day tht we make it through with no problems. She did more blood work and reminded me again of how minimal activity is so vitally important. She scheduled some special testing for monday of next week to make sure that Sophie is maturing appropriately and still growing. I guess with all of my issues at any point she can stop growing or the placenta can stop working as well as it should. I think after that we will have a more definitive plan as far as when we will deliver and stuff. We also talked about having to turn her so she is no longer breech (external version), something that I have heard is extremely painful. But please start praying that she either turns herself or that they can do it so that I don't need to have a c-section.

My little snow man

Thanks Auntie Terri I had such a great time playing outside and inside with you!!!

Ultrasound

My girl is big!!!! She is 4lb 15oz by ultrasound measurement. I am so thrilled. That means she is already bigger than Sammy was and he was over a week later than I am now. She looks so cute, and has chubby cheeks. I can't wait to see her in a couple more weeks. I am still not feeling too great but am so relieved to know that she is growing appropriately. I am sitting on the couch inside watching Sammy outside building a snowman with his Auntie Terri. He is getting so big and so independant. I can't believe he is not going to be my little baby anymore. That he is going to be a big brother. He is so cute, and just loves kissing my belly. I will post pictures later

We've graduated!!!

Exciting news: Sammy had his early intervention evaluation today. For those of you who don't know he was significantly physically behind when he was like 6-9mo old. He didn't even roll over, sit or do anything like that until around 10months. They think it is because of all of the hospitalizations, illnesses, and being a preemie. So for the last year or so we have had early intervention once a week, the first six months were physical therapy type things, and then after six months he was reevaluated and was found to be just about caught up physically but about six to seven months behind with speech and social aspects. Well anyways his big evaluation happened today and he tested higher than his age in everything!! The lowest he scored was at the 21month level for his fine motor skills. He scored up to 36months with some of the cognitive stuff. Not bad considering he is 19months old. My smartie boy!!!
Yesterday was his transfusion at Children's. It took two times to get the IV in but it took just a long time. There were so many people trying to distract him, including two clowns who had all the adults laughing and Sam just looked completely disgusted with them. It was so funny. He cried for like 2minutes and that is it. He is so brave. This is a little weird but probably a year from now he may be done with them.
As for me, the last two days I have started to feel quite yucky. I have been keeping track of my blood pressure and it is steadily creeping upwards:( Yesterday I noticed that I had some swelling in my feet, but none today. I just hope this isn't something starting:(
In other news Dennis will be home this weekend!!! I can't wait:)

Sunday at mom's

I went to church today, it was so nice to get out of the house. It was so refreshing and encouraging. Then afterwards Sam and I went to Mom's for the afternoon. I rested and Mom went with Doreen, Denise's family, Sam, and Seth and Sydney to go sledding. They had a wonderful time. I wish Icould have gone with them. And then we all had a huge turkey dinner. Matt went home after church and cleaned, which was something that has been bugging us both, but I know I am not supposed to do it. He did a great job and then came to Mom's for dinner.

I am feeling okay, but have started having increased contractions and some liver pain again since friday night. I will be 34weeks on friday! We are getting closer. Sophia is moving and wiggling all over the place. I love feeling that she is thriving and growing bigger each day. I can't wait for the ultrasound this week to see how big she is. I think she is bigger than Sam was when he is born. I am so nervous to have to go to the hospital again. I don't want to sit there for weeks until this baby is born. I don't want to have her too early and be discharged home without her. Please pray that I can stay pregnant until at least 36wks.
