Well child check up

Sophia had her 3 year well child check up today! I still can't believe my little peanut is growing up. She is 28.7lbs and is 36inches tall, she is just about in the fiftieth percentile!!! Not bad for my little failure to thrive baby:-) She is above and beyond for her age as far as language skills, recognizing shapes/colors etc.
We did have some concerning issues though. I have noticed for a very long time that Sophia has a very strange gait when she is walking, and especially running. I have mentioned it in the past to the doctor, but it has never been thought to be any big deal. I again mentioned it to her while we were there and she had her running up and down the hall of the office. She then saw what has been so concerning to us, and seems to be concerned herself.
We origionally were going to be seen by the head of pediatric orthopedics at Children's on June 3rd but the doctor was adament that she be seen sooner and therefore we will be going to see his colleague April 15th. I am anxious about this appointment but praying that all will go well. I just don't want her to have the frequent stumbling, and more recently she has been complaining that her legs hurt. She is incredibly fast and I don't want whatever this is to hinder her. Please say some prayers for my little princess

Well child check up

Sam had his four year well child check up today. He is 34lb (30th percentile) and 40 inches (50th percentile). Appointment went well. He only had to get one shot, since he can't get the live vaccines. He didn't cry with the shot but did say ouch. DR V is happy with how he is growing. I did voice my concerns with the sleep study not being 100% accurate since they had him positiong so specifically which isn't real life. And her comment was that the apnea could be positional. So I am not exactly sure where to go from here in terms of the apneic episodes.
We are still waiting to hear about cardiology and may also be going to see a urologist too now. Hoping to hear about cardilogist on monday.
In other news I actually got hurt at work:-( A pt fell and grabbed onto me as she was going down. She was facing me and grabbed onto my shoulders, so needless to say my whole back/neck/shoulders have been in severe spasms. I did go to the ER and got an IM shot (man those hurt the bottom) and also some muscle relaxants to take at home, not sure they are helping though:-( So praying that tomorrow will be a better day.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!!

This was an exciting day for me! Why, do you ask? Because she FINALLY has enough hair for not one but TWO bows!!!!

Can you believe it? My little princess is two! I feel like this past year has just flow by. You've come a long way in the last year Miss Sophia. A year ago, my little peanut was diagnosed with Failure to Thrive, because she was so tiny, and thus began a flurry of doctors appointments, weight checks, Early intervention, nutritionists, lab work, specialists, and pediasure. DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!! She now weighs 24lbs and is 33.5 inches tall. She is not little any more. They are still going to closely watch her but she is doing fabulously.
At two she is talking in complete sentences, sometimes up to seven and eight words. She is able to get her pants on, and is able to get some shirts partially on. She LOVES to take off her socks and shoes, which has been quite a challenge for me throughout the winter. She loves to have bows in her hair, she loves to have her toe nails painted. She loves to be out and about and playing outside.
She is so much like Matt in so many ways. She is organized and persistent. She tries very hard to figure things out, she doesn't give up easy for anything. She has a temper, and stomps her little foot. She has lots of time outs for hitting Sam, or for being fresh.
She loves to snuggle and sleep with me. She loves her blankie, her baby doll and her seahorse. She loves music and Curious George. She loves Noddy, and Bob the Builder. She loves playdough and bubbles.
She is such a social little girl, and says HI to just about anyone who looks at her. She loves her friends: Tristan, Alex, Maddox, Sadie, Hunter, Dasanee, and Ava.

Well child check up

Holy moly my baby is 18months old!!! I just can't even believe it. It just seems like she just got big overnight. Everything went well at her appointment and the doctor was thrilled with her progress and get this her 2 ppound weight gain!!! She is 22lb!!!! And 31 and 1/2 inches tall. She I guess could technically lose the FTT diagnosis now, but the doctor didn't acknowledge that when I asked her. She has 11 teeth and is working on a couple more. She is talking amazingly well and surprises me each day with what she can say. My favorite saying that she has is "I love you" which totally melts me. She also is saying "amen" when we are done praying unprompted now.
I had Dr V look at Sam's sinuses and they are looking pretty gross she said. We are going to try some conservative measures first, to prayerfully avoid antibiotics. She hasn't heard from his immunologist either, so we are all waiting anxiously for the results
Sam also saw the other GI doctor today. He weighs 29lbs still. He had been up to 31lb at one point but this is what he weighed when they weighed him in july as well. She is still pretty baffled by Sam and doesn't really know what to do. We are going to trial him off of the cramping medicine and are giving him the same appetite stimulant as Sophia to see if we can get him to gain some weight.
These are the pictures from making cookies the other day. Thanks Ang we had a wonderful time...

Well child check up

Sophia had her fifteen month well child check up today. It went fantastic! And for the first time EVER the doctor was happy with her weight. We went from not being on the growth chart at all to being just about the 10th!!! Can you believe it? I am so thrilled and praising God. She weighs 19lbs 11oz and is 29.5 inches tall. She is running all over the place, dancing, jumping (yes JUMPING!), climbing, and generally getting into mischief. She is a happy curious little girl who loves to explore and now likes to give hugs and kisses. She still eats relatively poorly but we are slowly making progress there too. She is loving greek yogurt, blueberries, grapes, pasta and chicken. She also likes daddies homemade oatmeal, french toast, and cereal. She is saying more than 20 words already including Doctor Trish, thank you, more please, up, juice, cup, cheese, milk, momma milk, bye bye etc etc. We are just loving this beautiful little girl and are so thankful that she is finally growing well.

Well child check up

Sophia had her well child check up today. I still can't believe my little baby is one. Drum roll please.... We are now 16lb15oz, and 28.5inches long. She is gaining just extremely slowly. The genetic testing has come back ok, and the other tests have all come back ok. So the doctor thinks that this failure to thrive thing is just her not having an interest to eat. We have to go ALL THE TIME it seems like to get her weighed now, it sure would be nice if this little one would eat. She has all but rejected all food lately. We also found out that she has a double ear infection, which could possibly explain the wakefulness at night. She was started on amoxicillin today

Sophia's appointment

Sophia had her well child check-up today. Now her doctor is quite concerned with her growth as well. She has completely fallen off the growth chart. Looks like we will be going to see some new specialist, either GI or endocrinologist. We did some bloodwork today and will now also be doing some different nutritional supplements. Drum roll please.... she is 14lb 6oz and 27inches long. She has grown two inches, but is not gaining well. And actually two weeks ago when she was sick she weighed 14lb 11oz, so she has lost weight:-(
And actually her little friend Analia picture here was born 17wks early, and weighed less than two pounds at birth. Her corrected age is the same age as Sophia and she is over sixteen pounds. So please pray for Sophia, for her to start growing and eating well. For there to be no need to go see more specialists.
Oh and please pray that this crazy storm we are supposed to get tomorrow which is supposed to dump somewhere around a foot of snow on us won't knock out the power again.

6months well child check

Wow my baby girl is six months already. I can't believe it. What a wonderful journey we are travelling with her. I am so blessed and so thankful for her. We had her appt today and of course she got the three shots. The poor little thing screamed this terrible high pitched cry while they stuck her and then as soon as I picked her up she stopped. The nurses were like "wow she's good." I made the mistake of bringing Sammy with me today and he saw her get the shots. It was very upsetting to him, and he kept saying "sister get boo boo too." THat is one of the first things he told Matt about when Matt got home.
Anyways my little tiny peanut is 12lb 11oz and is 25inches long. She is in the fourth percentile. I guess we just make them little. Although at the same age Sam was 15lb 11oz. The doctor was a little concerned with her size and will keep an eye on it but other than that she was pleased with everything. She was happy to see how much trunk control Sophia has and how alert she was. She said we can wait another month to really start the food so that is relief to me. She felt bad that I was pushing the food because of her recommendation, and told me several times that it is okay if she is small as long as she continues to grow. So she said to just try it when I feel like it.
I also used this opportunity to talk about Sam. I brought a sample of this mornings stool with us and it had lots of blood in it:-( I told her what has been happening the last few days. She is actually going to make a call to UMass hospital to have someone totally new, totally different review his case to see if they get any new ideas. She will let me know tomorrow or thursday when we need to go there. In the mean time please continue to keep Sam in your prayers.

4month and 2yr check ups

We went to the doctor today for well-child check-ups. I remember when Sam was little it felt like we never had well child check-ups it was always a follow up from some illness or something. Praise God it isn't like that any more!!! So my BIG 2 year old boy is 27lbs and 33inches, just under the 50th percentile for both. And my BIG girl is 10lb 12oz and 22 3/4inches long. Just under the 10th percentile for both. Sam was actually 12lbs at his 4month visit. But I guess Miss Sophia is just going to be petitie. She got 3 shots today and took it like a trooper. Sam tried to comfort her afterward. Poor little guy knows exactly what she was going through. And then we had to get his lead level and also blood to check to see if he is anemic. He started whimpering as we walked to the lab, but the lab tech (who knows us well:-( ) told Sam she would be real quick, and he said "Ok" and held out his finger. He didn't even cry when she picked him, and then said thank you when she was done. What a trooper he is. The doctor is going to follow up on the low IgA levels that the immunologist was talking about, she doesn't remember them being low before either, so we shall see how that plays out.

2 month check up

We had Sam's two month check up today. He is not on the grow curve yet but the doctor is thrilled with how he is doing. He is now 8lb 20z and is 20 3/4 inches long. He has grown almost 3 inches in two months!!! I think that he will be tall like his daddy. He is starting to smile at us occasionally, not sure if it is on purpose though. It is so cool though. He got three shots:( The first one he didn't cry at all but the last two he was a mess, but as soon as I picked him up he was instantly calm. In other news my dad, Grandpa M is finally not afraid to hold him, now that he is bigger. Grandma W loves that Sam came to see her at the camp ground.

6weeks check up

Well I got the clean bill of health from the doctor today, and also a warning about making sure we use birth control unless we are ready to give Samuel a sibling already. I can't believe six weeks has passed already. These have been some of the best weeks of my life. Being a mom is such a wonderful blessing, and I love it more and more each day. Sam is now 6lb 11oz!!! He is getting so big
