Children's Hospital ER

So I have always tried to avoid the ER at all costs, after today if the suggestion is to go to the ER at Children's I will go in a heartbeat. I won't argue or balk about it.
AFter calling our primary's office the suggestion was to call the hematologist. Sam's hematologist was off so I spoke with the on-call doc. She was very nice, and suggested started the Amicar again, and also calling the ENT, and having them schedule an appt as soon as possible.
So I called the ENT's office, and they wanted us to go to the ER ASAP as they thought there had been too many bloody noses, too many days, and too close to the surgery date to eliminate the risk of him bleeding from his adenoids. So we travelled into Children's. We never even sat in the waiting room, they took us in immediately. They were thorough and kind. They were absolutely wonderful.
So they actually put a camera up Sam's nose and into his throat, and got a really good look at the surgical site. They determined that the incision sites were all healing very well. There was some blood at the adenoids but they believe it is just trickling down his throat from his nose. They placed a medication saturated gauze up his nose, that was supposed to help him clot. They then packed his nose and let us leave, although we have to follow up with hematology in the morning.

Well child check up

Sam had his four year well child check up today. He is 34lb (30th percentile) and 40 inches (50th percentile). Appointment went well. He only had to get one shot, since he can't get the live vaccines. He didn't cry with the shot but did say ouch. DR V is happy with how he is growing. I did voice my concerns with the sleep study not being 100% accurate since they had him positiong so specifically which isn't real life. And her comment was that the apnea could be positional. So I am not exactly sure where to go from here in terms of the apneic episodes.
We are still waiting to hear about cardiology and may also be going to see a urologist too now. Hoping to hear about cardilogist on monday.
In other news I actually got hurt at work:-( A pt fell and grabbed onto me as she was going down. She was facing me and grabbed onto my shoulders, so needless to say my whole back/neck/shoulders have been in severe spasms. I did go to the ER and got an IM shot (man those hurt the bottom) and also some muscle relaxants to take at home, not sure they are helping though:-( So praying that tomorrow will be a better day.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!!

And I unfortunately was injured at work today:-( so I am headed in to the ER to get my back/neck checked out. I am having some pretty severe spasms and cannot even turn my head:-(

ER visits and Head CT...

So Sam slipped and fell in the tub last night. And immediately my brain went back to the last time I had spoken with his hematologist and her saying "I would have a very low threshhold for getting him checked out if he hits his head." So I sent a message to his PCP and since she was still awake I called her (she is SO THE BEST!!!) and she told me that I defintiely needed to take him up there. I then called the hospital and told them I was coming. We were seen within 10-15minutes, not sure if it is because of the bleeding disorder, or because I called, or becuase it was a head issue, but I am so thankful that they took us so quickly. Sammy fell asleep while we were in the waiting room, and didn't wake up throughout the whole rest of the time we were there. I layed him on a stretcher, picked him up, carried him to CT, layed him on the table for CT with his head between those block things, did the CT, picked him up, layed him back on the stretcher, the doctor examined him, shined a light in his face, picked him up carried him outside, buckled him in his carseat, drove home, carried him in and put him to bed and he has yet to wake!!!
The CT of his brain looked ok, so now we just have to watch him closely for the next 24 hours or so. So for now we just wait and pray. But I am just praising God at how quick and smooth the visit went, that the CT wasn't scary for him (he doesn't even know he had it:-)) and that everything is ok. Besides the big egg on his head, you wouldn't know anything had happened. I am so thankful the ER staff were great with us, and we are now home safe and sound. Thank you Lord

I Samuel 1:27-28, "I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord."

Praying for Sammy

ER
LABS
FEVER
Doctor
Worried
So afraid
Nobody knows
Infection? Maybe?
Time to restart IVIG?
Stumbling, falling, drowsy
Jittery, shaky, refusing to eat
Fussy, whiny, complaining of pain
Now questioning subclinical infection..
And then what? Antibiotics? Hospitalization
Today I am so overwhelmed, so scared, so nervous
We wait, we pray, we love him and we hug and cuddle
We watch Curious George, and Scamper the Penguin
We try to get him to eat, even just a little
We try to not let Miss Sophia bother him
WE Pray without ceasing for our boy
We let him watch TV all day long
We let him sleep in our bed
We hold him so tightly
We wait on our Lord
We give him kisses
We wait and we cry
We pray hard
We Watch
and we
wait.
