Christmas

I worked last night so I am completely exhausted, but it is Sam's first Christmas!!! We opened presents here, then we went to my mom's for brunch and Matt's aunts for dinner. It was very nice, but I was nervous because sick people came to Matt's aunts house and I just can't stand for Sam to get sick again. Hopefully I am just being paranoid and he won't get sick.

Heywood

My poor boy just spent two days in the hospital. On the upside of things we have finally figured out what is wrong with him, the down side is we are in the hospital now to treat him. What he has is colitis, caused by C-diff, which the doctore now believes he got while he was in the NICU. Everyone that had contact with him had to get tested to see if any of us were the carriers. I could have never forgiven myself if I was the reason he got sick. We were all negative, so he must have gotten it in the NICU. He is already feeling better as you can see in this picture with Daddy. Now we have to have antibiotics for 10 days. I just hope that he is better for Christmas, and that he has no more stomach pain.

Still sick

This poor baby is still sick. He can't seem to get better. He now isn't eating, and is just plain miserable. I feel like I failed him by allowing him to be around sick people on thanksgiving. We went back to the doctor, and she isn't quite sure what is going on, except to say taht some adult infections just wreak havic on babies, especially preemies. He has diarrhea and vomiting now as well. He is not losing weight so that is good, but I just feel so bad for him. He is vomiting quite often, and has 6 plus poops a day.

First Ear infection

Last week was thanksgiving, and unfortunately there were some people that were sick that were there. The day after thanksgiving Sam started with cold symptoms. I get so frustrated with that, don't people understand that he was premature and has had some medical issues? I wouldn't have brought him if I knew there were sick people there.
Well anyways this poor boy has gotten this rotten cold, and then this morning when he woke up he had a temperature of 101.9. He has an ear infection in his left ear. We started him on amoxicillin so hopefully he will feel better soon

First Cereal

Today we gave Sam cereal for the first time. He wasn't overly impressed, and gagged multiple times. He kept sticking out his tongue each time we put food in his mouth and it would then run down his chin.

Tubby time

Sam just loves taking a bath. He is now noticing his toys and likes holding on to them. He is starting to splash more each day, and is so smily while in the tub. We just love this boy so much and feel so blessed to have him. He is drooling all over the place, and I wonder if he is getting teeth, but he doesn't seem crabby or anything.

Pumpkins

Today at my mom's we sat Dasanee and Sam inside some real pumpkins. We lined them with plastic so the kids wouldn't get all slimy. Dasanee wouldn't sit in it though, She decided that since she is a girl she is not going to get dirty. Sam on the other hand, didn't care one way or the other. It was so cute. I will post pictures once I download them

SLEEP

Sam slept through the night last night!!! I can't believe it. He slept from 9pm until 5:45am. I of course didn't sleep that much, because I kept waking up to check on him. He was absolutely starving when he woke up. There is something going on with him, and I am not too sure what it is. I brought him to see the doctor last week, and she isn't quite sure what is going on. She did a chest x-ray and blood work and everything came back okay.

3 months!!!

My little miracle baby is 3 months old! I can't believe how time is flying by. He is getting so big and doing so many fun things. Smiling and cooing are my favorites. He also loves to spray whatever he possibly can whenever we open his diaper. He becoming so much more active and alert to things that are going on around him.

Apple and Pumpkin picking

We brought Sam for his first official New England fall outing today. He seems to love being outside (imagine that, I think he is just like his Daddy:) We had so much fun and it was such a beautiful day. We picked two bucket fulls of apples, and I plan to make Matt some applesauce as he really enjoys it. He unfortunately is back in school now, so that stinks to not have as much time with him. I definitely look forward to the day when he is done, as I am sure he does as well. Sam got weighed yesterday and is 9lb 50z!!! Getting so big...

2 month check up

We had Sam's two month check up today. He is not on the grow curve yet but the doctor is thrilled with how he is doing. He is now 8lb 20z and is 20 3/4 inches long. He has grown almost 3 inches in two months!!! I think that he will be tall like his daddy. He is starting to smile at us occasionally, not sure if it is on purpose though. It is so cool though. He got three shots:( The first one he didn't cry at all but the last two he was a mess, but as soon as I picked him up he was instantly calm. In other news my dad, Grandpa M is finally not afraid to hold him, now that he is bigger. Grandma W loves that Sam came to see her at the camp ground.

Uncle Dennis is going back to Colorado

Today Dennis had to leave and go back to Colorado. It is so sad to think that Sam is 8 weeks old and he won't see his Uncle Dennis again until he is around one year old. Dennis will be returning to Iraq next month for his second tour of duty. It sure would be nice if he didn't have to go, but we totally support him and the good he is going to do over there. Anyone who is reading this please keep him in your prayers continuously

Dedication

Samuel and Dasanee got dedicated together today at our church. We wanted to do it because Dennis was home and would be able to be here. My sister in law Tracy sang the song that meant so much to me (and still does) throughout my pregnancy "Trust Me" by Crystal Lewis. She made it so special for us. We also were asked to give our testimony about the miracles that God performed keeping Sam safe. It was such a beautiful day. And afterwards Dennis had a welcome home barbecue, and in a few weeks he will be returning to Iraq.

Trip to Florida

We haven't written in a while. Sam and I flew to Naples Florida for a week to visit my cousin Kerry and her family. Kerry has two boys and is expecting a third child in another month or so. It was nice to get away. The weather was beautiful, and we just basically did nothing. It was nice to not have any responsibilities except for taking care of Sam. I put him in a swing for the first time and he loved it. It was a little crazy at the airport though. Because of security issues or whatever, they made me dump out Sam's breast milk that he was actually drinking in the airport!!! I was quite annoyed but I guess if that keeps us safe it is worth it.

Uncle Dennis is home

Today Sam got to meet his Uncle Dennis for the first time. It has been so hard to have Dennis be so far away throughout the pregnancy. And now next month he will be redeploying to Iraq for another year. He was nervous to hold Sam at first but then he fell in love with him. Sam was pretty comfortable with him too. He's getting huge compared to how big he used to be, he must be around 7lbs or so now I think.

6weeks check up

Well I got the clean bill of health from the doctor today, and also a warning about making sure we use birth control unless we are ready to give Samuel a sibling already. I can't believe six weeks has passed already. These have been some of the best weeks of my life. Being a mom is such a wonderful blessing, and I love it more and more each day. Sam is now 6lb 11oz!!! He is getting so big

My actual due date

Today is the day that Sam was supposed to be born. I am so happy that he is already here and home with us though. Hard to believe he is already 5 weeks old. He is now 5lb 6oz, and getting cuter every day.

Wash me mommy

We gave Sam a bath in the kitchen sink today, he wasn't overly impressed although he didn' t cry. He did pee though:) He doesn't seem to mind the water but he hates to be cold, hard to keep this skinny little guy warm.

My first playdate

My friend Maria came over today with her twins. They were born in April at 31 weeks and were small too. They are growing so quick. It was Sam's first official playdate. He wasn't overly impressed though. It was just a good photo opportunity for us mom's.

Tea Party

We went to our first tea party today. Sam's cousin Allayna has an annual tea party before school get's restarted. So today after our doctor's appointment we went to T+T's for the party. Sam weighs 5lb 4oz. He is so alert now and slept very well last night. It is hard to believe how big he is getting.

Finally Home!!!

We are home!!! I am so absolutely thrilled. It has been a crazy ride through this pregnancy and now to bring Samuel home is a dream come true. Thank you God for this miraculous little boy. He is 4lb 6oz today. Eating every 1 and 1/2 hours around the clock, which is quite draining but it is wonderful to be up with him and know that I am the provider of his nourishment. I am what he needs. We are also adding the breast milk fortifier to my milk for the extra calories which will hopefully fatten him up quickly.
