6lbs of beautiful

Well we hit six pounds today, not what the doctor had hoped for, she was hoping she would be like 6lb 2oz or more. But six pounds is good to me, at least she is gaining, incredibly slowly but gaining. I can't believe she is four weeks old today. She is such a joy, although these last days as I have been giving her the high calorie fortifier in my milk she has been irritable and uncomfortable, and very spitty. Poor girl. I am totally having mixed feelings with this fortifier. I respect our doctor and her opinion so much, but totally don't agree with me having to give her the fortifier. She doesn't spit at all when I am just nursing. Last week when I was just nursing she gained an ounce a day, but over the last four days she only gained two ounces, when given the fortifier. Any opinions out there about what I should do?
Tomorrow I have to go and get Sammy;s belly x-rayed to see where the crazy magnet is. To make sure it is working its way through and not blocking anything. I wonder if he passed it and we missed it, although we have been searching every diaper for it. NOT FUN!!!!

Crazy KID!!!!

Well my Sammy is officially a trouble maker. Last night the silly kiddo got a hold of a magnet and swallowed it! I called mom, and she said to call the ER. I called the ER and they said to call his on call primary doctor. I called them and they said to bring him to the ER. I decided I didn't really want to do that so I called the Poison Control CEnter. THe guy asked all kinds of questions and then told me that we just had to check his poop for the next few days to make sure it passes, but other wise no big deal.
Miss Sophia had another weight check today. I was really hoping for 6lbs and am quite discouraged to say that she is 5lb14oz, which is okay but the doctor is still concerned with her poor weight gain. She will be four weeks on tuesday and her birth weight was 5lb8oz so she hasn't made too much progress. I feel like she looks bigger, and her cheeks definitely seem to be filling out. Sammy is getting a little jealous of her too, I was trying to feed her today and he climbed up on my lap and got close to her face and said "MOVE!!!!" It was funny, but of course she didn't and he got frustrated.
Here are pictures of bath time and some fun bath bubbles.

Beautiful weather

WE have had beautiful weather these last few days. It has been so nice to be able to be outside. My little man is full of trouble (energy!) and needs the outdoors. Here are some pictures from the last few days.

Grow baby grow

The miracle blanket, snuggled up like a cocoon.

Do you like my mohawk?

Sophia has not grown much this week. She is still only 5lb6oz. She stayed the same weight each day that we went. Her blood work was okay. We have to go back on monday and if she hasn't grown who knows what will happen. Please pray that she grows. She is still puking and coughing/choking a lot.Last night was horrible. I feel like she had a terrible stomach ache and was so gassy. She was up from 2 until 4:30 and just fussy and squirmy. Totally acting like she was miserable, poor girl. It is probably (hopefully?) something I ate. That is a lot easier to deal with than something wrong with her. I had my follow up with the OB doctor yesterday to check my incision. Unfortunately it is infected. I have to do warm compresses several times a day to help the infection drain out.

A little scare

Last night Sophia projectile vomited and I thought maybe I fed her too much/too fast or maybe there was something in my milk. She puked more during the night and then a big amount this morning and so I called the doctor thinking that it was probably just reflux. They had me bring her in and were questioning whether she had this condition called Pyloric Stenosis, which probably would require surgery and a whole mess of other things. They ended up doing an x-ray of her belly and found that the belly is full of gas, more than normal, and we are not sure why that is happening. They also did blood work, I then came home and the office called me because the blood work came back abnormal and they wanted me to go back and get more drawn. So needless to say the one day when we didn't have a doctors appointment this week, we had to be in:( I know that God is in control, but am totally discouraged. I had really been hoping that once she was here that the worrying about health stuff would be over. Matt and I are both feeling like Why can't we just have a healthy kid? So we have to go back tomorrow and they are going to reevaluate the situation. I guess the doctor is starting to be more concerned with her poor weight gain, and she is thinking that there may be something to it.

This hat that she is wearing was made by a friend of mines mother, isn't it so cute?

Bigger and bigger

Well she is growing!!! I am so thankful. The doctor was concerned on monday because Miss Sophia had only gained an ounce in four days. But since monday she has gained 3ounces. I wonder if it had to do with me feeding her every 1.5 to 2 hours last night? I am so tired, but so relieved that she is growing. She was 5lb6oz today, not quite up to birth weight but we are getting closer. They were so funny in the office they said that she gained the 3oz in her cheeks. SHe does look like a chubby little thing, which is so different since Sam never really had a lot of chub. As you can see in the pictures, we have a little problem with hats. SHe is too big for the preemie hats, and too small for the newborn ones. But still cute:)

His transfusion yesterday went well as well. They got the IV in on the first try. It was so sad though, he started crying as soon as he saw the IV cart. He was crying and saying all done all done before they even did anything. He has never done that before, I guess it was easier when he didn't remember. I guess since we have been doing this for more than 6months he is going to start remembering. Poor little guy:(
